Mike was born "Michael Doris Joseph Bernard" (according to him, the last name may have been misspelled via the word of mouth account he got as he does not have access to his original official birth certificate.)

Mike was born in Nipawin on March 7, 1960 and subsquently adopted out of the Bernhard family.

Mike did his ancestryDNA a few years ago, and was 'discovered' as a 1st cousin match to Peg Riou on April 11, 2022 through her DNA search for Julie's firstborn son who was adopted out in 1953, and for Marti's daughter who was also adpted out, but happily also found. (See Marti Riou's page for those happy details. It was bittersweet finding her, Marti died only two weeks after being reunited with her daughter after 41 years, but that just stresses the importance of coming forth with info.)

In a conversation with Mike: "I was born to a young, unmarried mother who was a housekeeper for my father. So I never chased the line since I don't want to cause my real mother any embarrassment. Would like to get a line on my father though… so I can inherit that castle in France ;). "

The search continues for Julie's firstborn, at birth on Dec 16, 1953 named Joseph Vincent Bernhard and subsequently adopted out. His post adoptive name is Timothy Mark Hannah.
I have hit a wall in trying to locate him, the only thing we know is he was born in Winnipeg and repatriated wtih my mom, Julie Riou to Moose Jaw in early 1954.
